SunVPN Setup Instructions

SunVPN may be installed on a number of operating systems. From the column on the left, please select your operating system and the protocol you would like to install.

Please note that to connect with PPTP you will need to buy a SunVPN Mobile Plan and to connect with OpenVPN you will need a SunVPN SSL Plan.

Windows 7 PPTP Instructions




How to Configure

  1. Save the SunVPN-PPTP-Installer.zip file we emailed you on the desktop
  2. Unzip the content of the archive to a folder on your desktop
  3. Go to the folder you unzipped it and right click on SunVPN PPTP Installer.exe.
    Select Run as aministrator. You may encounter a Security Warning screen. Click Yes to run the software
  4. Enter the username and password we sent you in your welcome mail.
  5. Select the server locations that you want VPN connections created to
  6. Click Create VPN connections to create the connections
  7. Close the SunVPN PPTP Installer application

How to Connect

  1. In your Windows Taskbar, click on the Network icon
  2. Click on the SunVPN connection you want to use, then click on the Connect button
  3. Click Connect

Windows 7 OpenVPN Instructions




How to Configure

  1. Save the OpenVPN-GUI-SunVPN-Installer.zip file we emailed you on the desktop
  2. Unzip the content of the archive to a folder on your desktop
  3. Go to the folder you unzipped it and right click on SunVPN-OpenVPN-GUI-install.exe.
  4. Click Select Run as aministrator to run the installer. You may encounter a Security Warning screen. Click Yes to run the software
  5. The SunVPN Setup Wizard prompt will appear. Click Next.
  6. Enter your SunVPN username and password.
  7. The OpenVPN license will appear. Click I Agree to continue.
  8. Select your destination folder and click Install.
  9. After the installation is completed, click on Finish.
  10. Find the SunVPN OpenVPN GUI icon on your desktop, right-click on it, and choose Properties.
  11. Go to the Compatibility tab and click on Change settings for all users.
  12. In the window that opens, check Run this program as an administrator.
  13. Click OK to close the Compatibility for all users Properties window.
  14. Click OK to close the SunVPN OpenVPN GUI Properties window.

How to Connect

  1. Double-click the SunVPN OpenVPN GUI icon from your desktop.
  2. Right click the OpenVPN GUI icon from the taskbar tray.
  3. Choose the location you want to connect to from the menu, and click Connect from the location's submenu.
  4. The OpenVPN GUI icon in the taskbar tray will turn green when connected.

How to Configure

  1. Save the SunVPN-PPTP-Installer.zip file we emailed you on the desktop

  1. Click Start, Connect To and choose the SunVPN location you want to conect to

How to Configure

How to Connect

  2. Select Run as Administrator.

  5. Choose the location you want to connect to from the menu, and click Connect from the location's submenu.
  6. The OpenVPN GUI icon in the taskbar tray will turn green when connected.

How to Configure

Mac OS X PPTP Instructions




How to Configure

  1. Go to Apple -> System Preferences and click on Network
  2. Click on the + (the plus icon in the lower side of the screen)
  3. Select VPN for the interface, PPTP as VPN Type, and enter "SunVPN" for Service Name
  4. Click on Create
  5. Select the newly created SunVPN connection
  6. Now enter the IP address of the server that you want to connect to (all server IPs are in your welcome mail) in the Server Address field
  7. Type your SunVPN username in the Account Name field
  8. Click Authentication Settings and enter your SunVPN password in the Password field. Click OK
  9. Click on Advanced and check the Send all traffic over VPN connection option.Click OK
  10. Click Apply to save the settings.
  11. To setup your connection to a another SunVPN server, please repeat the steps above (use a different Service Name and Server Address).

How to Connect

  1. Click the new VPN icon in the menu bar
  2. Click Connect SunVPN

Mac OS X OpenVPN Instructions




How to Configure

  1. Download Tunnelblick.
  2. Save the OpenVPN-MacOS-conf.zip file we emailed you in your Downloads folder
  3. Go to your Downloads folder and double click the Tunnelblick_3X.dmg file you just downloaded.
  4. In the Finder window that opens double click the Tunnelblick icon
  5. A warning Dialog Box will appear. Click Open.
  6. An installation Dialog Box will appear. Click Install.
  7. An "Installation succeeded" Dialog Box will appear. Click Launch.
  8. You may see the following Dialog Box: "Tunnelblick needs to repair ownership/permissions of the program to secure it. Type your password to allow Tunnelblick to make changes." If so, enter your computer's admininstrator username and password and click OK.
  9. A new Dialog Box will appear. Click Create and open configuration folder. A new Finder window will open with the Tunnelblick configuration folder.
  10. Go to your Downloads folder and double click on the OpenVPN-MacOS-configuration.zip.
  11. Select all content from the OpenVPN-MacOS-configuration.zip folder and drag it to the open Tunnelblick configuration folder.
  12. Click on the Tunnelblick icon from your menu bar (top right) to open the dropdown menu and click on Details...
  13. The OpenVPN Log Output window will open. Click on each server name on the top of the window and uncheck the Monitor Connection option.
  14. Close the OpenVPN Log Output window.

How to Connect

  1. Click on the Tunnelblick icon from your menu bar
  2. In the drop down menu, choose the server you want to connect to.
  3. If you are prompted to enter your system administrator password, enter your system username and password.
  4. Enter your SunVPN username and password. To save the username and password for future connections please check the Save in Keychain box. Click OK
  5. When connected, the Tunnelblick icon will change from a dark tunnel to a lit tunnel.

iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch PPTP Instructions




How to Configure

  1. Go to Settings -> General -> Network and tap on VPN
  2. Tap Add VPN Configuration...
  3. Tap on PPTP
  4. Enter SunVPN for Description
  5. Enter the IP address of the server you want to connect to in the Server Address field (all server IPs are in your welcome mail)
  6. Enter your SunVPN username in the Account field and your SunVPN password in the Password field
  7. Tap Save

How to Connect

  1. Go to the Settings -> General -> Network application
  2. Slide the VPN switch ON.

Android PPTP Instructions




How to Configure

  1. Open the Main Menu and tap on Settings
  2. Tap on Wireless and Network
  3. Tap on VPN Settings
  4. Tap on Add VPN
  5. Tap on Add PPTP VPN
  6. Tap on VPN Name and enter SunVPN
  7. Tap on Set VPN Server and enter the IP address of the server you want to connect to (all server IPs are in your welcome mail)
  8. Make sure that the Enable Encryption box is selected
  9. Open the menu and choose Save

How to Connect

  1. Open the Main Menu and choose Settings
  2. Tap on Wireless and Network
  3. Tap on the SunVPN connection
  4. Enter your SunVPN username and password (case-sensitive)
  5. Click Connect
